Last quarter we explored the skills required within the IT team of tomorrow.
The proliferation of cloud services, software and solutions means Commercial teams often by-pass the IT team in search of greater agility. CIO’s stress the need for IT to be part of the business, inter-twined in their aspirations and goals. And yet, many IT departments are more comfortable with coding language than business language.
So do IT teams need to include people who are more (a-hem) comfortable with humans? You know, people who like to chat. About feelings and stuff. Do you need psychology students? Art students? English students? To help bridge the gap between business and the technology. We debated it at the CIO Dinner on 2nd July.
